  2. INTRODUCTION Girls menstruate about the age of 12 to 14. Usually periods last for a duration of 2 to 5 days. The interval between the periods can be on an average of about 28 days. However sometimes there can be a change in these days between the periods, sometimes they come early where as some other time they come late. There are several types of menstrual products available in the market these days. But what works best for you? This differs from persons to persons. There are different things you need to keep in mind while choosing your menstrual product. Such as • Price • Type of activity you would be involved in • Comfortable • Convenience • Environmentally Friendly or not

  3. TAMPONS These are different from traditional sanitary pads and are made of cotton with a string at the bottom. Tampons needs to be inserted into the vagina and after they soak up the blood they can be thrown away. • Advantage: • Tampons can be used while you are swimming • Easy to use and convenient • Disadvantages: • Risk of Toxic shock Syndrome. • Fear of loosing Virginity among younger girls

  4. Menstrual cups They are environmental friendly products made of silicon or rubber. These cups needs to be properly and carefully inserted into the vagina. Once they are filled with the blood these cups can be removed carefully, rewashed and used again • Advantage: • Menstrual cups can be used while swimming or heavy exercise • Environmental Friendly • Disadvantages: • Difficult to use for beginners • Fear of leakage

  5. Disposable pads There are different types of sanitary pads available, such as Organic, Non toxic, Nanotechnology. These pads are super comfortable and convenient as they are disposable. These pads can absorb the blood efficiently and you can throw them away after your use. • Advantage • Convenience - Use can easy get these products in supermarkets and pharmacies near you. With internet and latest technology you can also subscribe or order online for your sanitary pads. • Affordable • Disadvantages • Since these pads are disposable, this can have an impact on the environment.

  6. Reusable pads These are pads made of cloth, which can we washed and reused. They also come with wings and buttons to secure them around your underwear. • Advantage: • No tension of buying your monthly pads • Better for environment • Disadvantages: • Difficult to use – as we need to wash them and reuse again
