Supplies Your Child Needs: • 1 book bag. • 6 packs of #2 pencils. • 9 hard covered notebooks with your child’s name. • 1 pencil case. • 3 pocket folders. • 1 pair scissors. • Crayons or colored pencils. • 1 ruler (cm. & in.). • 1 pack of post-it notes. • 1 piece large oak tag. • 1 pack (each) of lined paper and computer paper. • $7.00 in a sealed envelope for yearly goods. • ALL MATERIALS SHOULD HAVE YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON IT!!! Classroom Procedures: • School begins at 8:20 a.m. & ends at 2:40 p.m. • If you cannot pick up your child and someone else is, send a note. • Students are given homework EVERY night. • All homework must be done with proper headings and be signed by a parent. • Too many missing assignments will lower an overall grade. • Sign and return your child’s test folder as quickly as possible. • Check your child’s folder everyday. • If you need to speak with me or a supervisor, kindly make an appointment.

P.S. 235 Student Code of Conduct • I will be the best person I can be. • I will respect my peers, teachers and others. • I will come to school on time and prepared. • I will not fight or cause a disturbance. • I will keep my school clean. • I will obey all the rules of P.S. 235 in school, on trips and on school property.

How to do your homework: • Homework helps children to meet the performance standards. • They gain reinforcemen of each day’s lessons through daily homework assignments. • Homework helps build good work habits at a young age, that will be continued throughout a • person’s life. • A proper headding MUST be written on each piece of homework. • P.S. 235 Full Name • Class Date • All assignments must be neatly written or it will affect the overall grade. • A parent of guardian’s signature MUST accompany each piece of homework. • Please review the assignments with your child when they finish. Make sure all parts of the • assignments are fully completed. • If assignment is missed it must be made up. Multiple missing assignments • (especially projects) will result in a lower overall grade. • Encourage your child to ask questions about assignments that they do not understand. • Please work along side your child to help them through the assignment. • Check school bags and folders each day withyour child so they become part of the routine.

  8. Homework Rubric • 4 - ABOVE THE STANDARDS: all parts of the assignment are complete and correct. Homework is handed in on time and neatly done. • 3 - MEETING THE STANDARDS: All parts of the assignment are not complete. There are a few errors in the work. Homework is handed in on time and neatly done. • 2 - APPROACHING THE STANDARDS: All parts are not complete. There are many errors and could be neater. It is handed in on time. • 1 - BELOW THE STANDARDS: The work is not complete. There are a lot of errors in the work. It is not done neatly or carefully. • 0 - INCOMPLETE OR NOT DONE!

For Your Information… • Teacher’s notes and comment should be signed and returned when indicated. • Place all money for trips, lunch, parties, etc., in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, class, teacher and the purpose it was sent for on the front. • Children must have a note to leave school early with someone who is not listed on their blue cards. All students must be signed out in the office when leaving early. • Birthday parties are welcome to be celebrated in the class. Prior notification must be given. Please bring in cupcakes (easier to give out), napkins, cups and non-carbonated beverages for each child in the class.
