  4. Why Our Short Film Is A Good Idea Why Our Short Film Idea Is Good: Whilst doing a quick google search, and looking at some information, one of the genres that people liked the most were action/adventure and suspense/thriller. Our short film consists of mainly both those genres, because (if you have a quick look at our story) our story is about a Widow who seeks help from Detective Shaq when her husband Harvey (Detective Shaq’s partner) was assassinated.

  5. Research Information Audience Research Nick Redfern. (November 2012). Correspondence analysis of genre preferences in UK film audiences. Available: http://www.participations.org/Volume%209/Issue%202/4%20Redfern.pdf. Last accessed 1st Dec 2017. This link shows the gender, age and genre preferences that people enjoy, it doesn’t go into much detail about why people enjoy these genre’s, but it still gives us a basic idea of what age range and genre’s people enjoy. The prof writing academy think, does have someone breaking down why we love crime fiction films. So below you will find what I gathered from that. Genre Research http://courses.washington.edu/crmscns/Nattevagten.pdf (This link shows what Crime Genre’s include film wise and breaks down all the detail about them whilst giving examples of some films) For example, for crime films, it says that people enjoy it more when there are close ups on what the characters feeling, and what the character is focused on. It also tells us what tools we can use for example, opening shots, the film introduces the motif of unmotivated camera movement through the hallways. (The camera’s perspective is not attributed to any character.) It also goes on to explain that after initial introduction to the apartment, close-ups begin to single out details, which will reappear later in the film, the example they gave was a phone that will become a key prop when the character is suspected of murder.

  6. Research Information Mo Harber-Lamond. (29 April 2016).  Why we love crime fiction. Available: https://www.profwritingacademy.com/why-we-love-crime-fiction. Last accessed 1st Dec 2017. This link shows why people like Crime Genre’s, this goes onto explain about books, but even though that’s not so much about film itself, it could still be explained as a film instead of a book, and the love for the book can be the same as a film as a book can be turned into a film. For example, the writer goes on to explain that the stories are relatable and “The imperfect detective protagonist might be jaded, silly, witty or even a genius, but they’re not superhuman. They’re a real person, and we enjoy that. Also” “and most importantly, we enjoy the mystery. As humans, we long for the satisfaction of a good resolution in all aspects of our lives” I like how this went into a bit of detail about why the genre is good and why people enjoy it.
