  4. Different Polishers • Engis Corporation • Manufacter Diamond and CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) electoplated and impregnated mandrils • Highly expensive due to custom order

  5. Polishing Tests • Engineers at GT didn’t seem to think material change improve polish • Super-abrasives might still last longer than ruby • However, the group was encouraged to continue with the polishing test and provide the results to GT.

  6. Polishing Test… • The tests will be performed with the fine grit ruby stone. • Our contact at GT, Dan Faulkner will setup the polishers for the experiment. • Due to the amount of business that GT incurs, polishing tests have not yet been done.

  7. Imaging • Contacted Dr. Liang at the FAMU-FSU COE IE • Minolta imaging machine was capable but out of service. • Samples will be sent to Dymek for analysis

  8. Improved Holder • Currently there three different stone lengths. • Long stones extend well past the holder end causing the polishing stone to be less stable • We will design an adjustable holder for various stone lengths.
