Portfolio • All Grade 12 requirements on the Portfolio Checklist must be organized and completed. • Please print your own materials from the website. • Library may be utilized for this purpose. • www ahs.asd103.org > Departments > Couns. Dept. • Make arrangements and plan NOW for Job Shadow or Career Project • Strongly encouraged to submit Proposal by November 18 • Deadline for completed Job Shadow or Career Project is January 6th

Senior Portfolio Requirements • Semester I • Job Shadow or Career Project Proposal • Completed Job Shadow or Career Project documentation (on Counseling website) • Letter of Recommendation Form • Transcript and Credit Evaluation Summary • Semester II • Resume’ • Community Service (Total of 20 hours) • Completion of Culminating Presentation

Portfolio Grading • Meets Standard – “S” • Student has met standard on every assignment • thorough, well- written, neatly done • Below Standard – “U” • Not all assignments completed on Portfolio Checklist • Portfolio must be completed, prior to final presentation • This is a requirement for graduation!

  10. Culminating Presentation • Based on Portfolio • Who am I? (Personal/Social) • Where am I going? (College/Career) • How am I going to get there? (Academic) • Majority of Presentation will be completed outside of classroom • Important Dates • Culminating Presentation Practice: To be determined • Final Culminating Presentation: April 21st

Important Dates • SAT • November 7th at AHS • Register online at www.sat.collegeboard.com, $54.50, deadline October 9 • Seats fill, register as soon as possible • ASVAB • Wednesday, December 9th at AHS 7:30 AM no late start for test takers • Free - sign up in Counseling Center beginning in early November

  12. APPLYING TO COLLEGES • Refine College Selections • College Reps will be visiting during lunches • Check easel and daily bulletin for updates • Visit campuses and websites

APPLYING TO COLLEGES(continued) • Official AHS Transcript • Complete Transcript Request Form • Forms are available in the Registrar’s Office • Note: For Common Application colleges, AHS Counselors will download applications • Submit form to Mrs. Kitchen, Registrar • Available for pick-up in the Registrar’s office , 24 hours after request • Be sure to thank Mrs. Kitchen for her help!

  14. Scholarships • Visit Counseling Center website weekly (free local scholarship search) • Recommend registering at WashBoard and FastWeb (free state/national scholarship search programs) • Option – use your College Board account to search for additional scholarships!

Financial Aid • Financial Aid Night – • Brodniak Hall, Thursday, December 3rd, 6:30 pm • All parents/students should attend—even if you are uncertain of college plans • Important: Application (FAFSA) cannot be submitted until after January 1. • Sign up for PIN now! www.fafsa.ed.gov • Parents and student have separate PINs

  17. Senior picture and quote due on October 16th • After October 16th, $20.00 late fee • No pictures or quotes accepted after October 31st • More information: • ahs.asd103.org > Students > Yearbook

  18. Graduation Products(Cap and Gowns, Announcements, etc.) • Meeting on October 7th – AHS Gym • Basic packages available, along with other graduation items
