  1. Making Work from Home More Secure for Businesses A study in 2018 revealed that at least 70 percent of the employees across the globe work remotely at least once every week. But, the COVID-19 pandemic has made Work From Home a necessity than a perk. While working from home has reduced the overhead costs of businesses, this has added to their data security woes. When your employees are working from home, using their laptops to access confidential information over a wi-fi network, how can you be assured that all is well? Ask this question, and we have answers to help your business minimise data breach. Let’s look at some of the ways to make WFH more secure for businesses. Basic security knowledge awareness -Though we live in a world where number of data connections will soon outgrow the total population, people are still not aware of security thefts and their consequences. Have workshops and seminars on security advice. Make people aware of how to stay away from phishing email, use best Internet parental controls to secure the connection for kids, and how to verify the security of devices that they use for official work. Run password audit - It is important to audit employee passcodes. We are not asking you to get personal details of employees, but it is always good to know the passcodes that employees use to access enterprise services and software. Make two-factor authentication and alphanumeric codes mandatory for your people. Provide VPN access - Even if your employees have the most advanced router with best parental control device features, providing them VPN access is always better. It secures the data that moves between the main systems of your enterprise and employees. A VPN access hides the IP address of the user, mask their location and also encrypts data transfer during transit. Reset wi-fi router passwords - There is a possibility that some of your employees might not have changed the default password their router came with. We know that wi-fi router manufacturers have standard default passwords that are easy to crack. Thus, make sure every employee in your organization has reset the password. Nobody has a control over the situation and we are trying our best to live with it. Similarly, your business cannot ask employees to come to work every day while risking their lives, but these steps can ensure that your data is safe, work is productive and there’s lesser impact on the bottom line.
