  1. How to choose Electrical Wire?

  2. It is important to select correct electric wire and its benefits and features like; amps, temperatures, gauge and color as well before taking final decision.

  3. Learn the identification process of wires! The marking on the protective insulation that is covered around tells the type of the wires inside it. For instance, the 14-gauge wires of two individual types will have marking of “14-2-G” and the 3rd wire is used for the purpose of grounding.

  4. First of all, you need to determine the energy load that the wire will carry. The gauge and thickness should be determined as per the load of the wire. The heavy wires carry heavy loads, while, lower energy is carried by thin wire. So, more amps can be carried by thicker wire only. According to Kompass India Information Pvt. Ltd, the 14G wire should be used for up to 15 amps only and 12G wires should be used within 20amps. The 10G wire is capable of carrying within 30 amps. The 18-gauge wire is used for the low application.

  5. It is extremely important to know the specific application, since you cannot use the indoor wires in outdoor application. There is a great difference between the underground and above-ground wire. That is why; the user should have thorough knowledge on where to and how to install as it is not interchangeable.

  6. There should be a difference in the colors of the wire since it will be easier for the user to install the products without any danger. The color difference also can help category wise. White wires are considered to be neutral and used to transfer excessive energy to the electric power to the panel. The black electric wires are said to be hot and it is basically used to pull power from the panel. The green wires are used for the purpose of grounding, while colorful are for identifying circuits.

  7. You need to evaluate installation requirements. The solid and strong wires are more reliable than standard wire. Of course, the solid wires are strong and stiff which makes it difficult to install for the user. The standard one is easier to install.

The wire made of copper is very expensive. That is why; the house owner buys the wire made of aluminum coated with copper. Though it is cheaper, yet it is not recommended for all the purposes.
