  1. Most dangerous game powerpoint Hayley Jones.

  2. “But it was no mirage, he found, when he opened the tall iron gate. The stone steps were real enough; the massive door with a leering gargoyle for a knocker was real enough; yet about it all hung an air of unreality. “ (page 22) • Rainsford describes the chateau as pretty much massive. This passage gave the most detail, and really gave me a visual of what it looked like. This also kind of set the mood, which is kind of mysterious. He said there was a tall spiked iron gate, and a “leering gargoyle for a knocker” this two little details really help you to think of what kind of person Zaroff was, which is a evil and conniving man.

  3. “ He came upon them as he turned a crook in the coastline, and his first thought was that he had come upon a village, for there were many lights… he saw to his great astonishment that all the lights were in one enormous building. “ (page 22) This quote is talking about the lights on the building, which Rainsford thinks Is a town. To his astonishment, it is only one building. The building is massive, and holds a lot of secrets. When Rainsford first sees the building, he thinks safety. But what he doesn’t see is the dungeon with captivated people, and the yard with the man eating dogs.

  4. “A lofty structure with pointed towers plunging upward into the gloom. His eyes made out the shadowy outlines of a palatial chateau: it was set on a high bluff, and on 3 sides of its cliffs dived down to where the sea licked greedy lips in the shadows.” (page 22) The mere fact that the chateau had water on 3 sides, and was only open to the one side shows the general may have been scared of attack, even though most ships crashed. This could also benefit him in the hunt. If people are running towards the cliff, they may not know as well as him that it was there. He knows the island like the back of his hand, and these people might think it was a way to safety, and to jump. This would guarantee the win of the General. This passage could also give the readers a visual, of a tower on top of a hill, open on 3 sides.
