  1. Short but Powerful Guide to Effective Parenting It is always wonderful to watch the children grow, but parenting can often be very hard. Effective parenting is needed for better growth of the children.

  2. Make Sure they know you Love them • Always assure them that you love them even when you are busy. • A hug or a few words with them can reassure them a huge amount. • Praise them when they do something well. • Encourage them to try doing new productive things.

  3. Be Honest about your Feelings • Disclose your feelings to your children. For e.g. about your work or the family setup. • If you say unkind words to them, do apologize later. We all get things wrong! • Explain them why you were upset. They will understand you eventually.

  4. Tell them what’s Acceptable and what’s not. • Children need to know what is acceptable and what is not. • Draw a line. Tell them why have you created a certain limitation. • Tell them about the consequences if they will cross the limits.

  5. Ask your Children • If you or the children are facing any problem, ask them for suggestions. • If the suggestions look sane, Act upon it! • If their suggestions don’t sound appropriate, educate them why you think it’s not good. • Don’t say NO to their suggestions and ideas immediately. Talk to them and reason politely.
