Meeting Schedule 2012-13 • Staff Meetings / Second Tuesday– New Meeting schedule • September 11th 7:50 • Every Tuesday • Check out Blair Calendar to see future dates • PLC meetings every Thursday-7:50 • Grade level are to meet at least once a week during their common planning time. • PST meetings—Thursday—schedules as needed basis • Committees are required to meet regularly and are to report out school- wide happenings.

  10. Supervision schedule • Recess • If students are kept in they must be supervised at all times. Teacher must supervise or make arrangements with another teacher. • Two-way radios and fanny packs are in the office to be picked up for recess duty and be returned immediately after. • All teachers will be supervising Arrival and Dismissal times to ensure student safety. • Review Lunch and Recess schedule—please be on time and plan for your absences—be sure to notify the office of the change. • Second recess at this time is under teachers discretion –10 min. max. and after schedules have solidified teachers can rotate with other teachers—just remember 1 adult per 50 students is required • Daily and weekly class schedules are to be in so that we have an updated master schedule. • This year we will Post schedules near the doorway so support teachers etc. know where students are and what is being taught.

A schedule soon to be distributed.

Teacher Attendance Required Teachers are required to be at school prepared, ready and on time---7:45-3:30— School day report absences—AESOP • Open House • PLC meetings • Staff meetings • Committee meetings • District meetings • In-services • 1 PTO event a year • Parent/Teacher conferences • Curriculum nights • Christmas/Spring concerts for your homeroom

Safety • Please review your Safety Procedures • Please follow Fire codes to avoid continual citations—nothing hanging on the ceiling-clear hallways and doorways • This year we really want to consider what we use and how we use it--anything else should be taken home • All Visitors must get a visitor pass to be in the building. We want to maintain a open door policy but maintain safety by being consistent with our messaging.

Things That Will Happen Regularly: • I will be in classrooms OFTEN. • I will ask a lot of questions. • I will get to know the students – their names, their strengths, their areas of growth, etc. • I will be honest with my feedback. • I will come to you with any parent concerns that come my way.

Communication with me • Whatever method works for YOU, but I do want you to communicate often with me. • Weekly Bulletins—email only– try to go paperless • Gmail Calendar for all meetings and events • Email, phone messages, mailboxes—please check three times a day—be respectful and be responsive • Honest and regular feedback in a respectful manner—this should be reciprocal. • All staff important information will be on the Staff Shared Drive—to save paper.

Classroom Communication • Telephones voicemail—check 3 times a day—Please remember to set up your voicemail • All calls from 8:30-3:30 will go directly to voicemail • Check email three times a day—email etiquette • Keep Parents informed • Classroom newsletters at least monthly. Please give me copy so I am aware of the school-wide happenings- or websites updated weekly • Regular descriptive feedback on student work for improvement for parents • Tuesday Take-home Folders— • Portfolio should be returned next day with communication log. Ongoing inputting of grade in Standard score—remember to properly score all areas every trimester

Parent Communications-ettiquette Smile and keep communications with parents positive All parent complaints regarding staff, student, or programming issues should be brought to me Do not voice your frustrations to parents Be welcoming of new students and parents Remind parents that they must have a visitor pass from the office to be in the school during operating hours Remember that parents are a great resource and good parent/teacher relations can help a classroom in many ways

  26. Blair Celebrations in data • School wide strengths in the data showed that First and Second grade reading data outperformed the district in meeting student growth.

Blair Elementary School Intervention Review of Students Meeting or Exceeding their Growth Targets Fall 2011 – Spring 2012 Note: Students in interventions need to exceed 100% of their typical growth and achieve between 150-200% of their typical growth to move them out of the intervention zone and catch them up with their peers.

Teacher and Parent handbook • Please send home the first day of school and parents should return the last form signed—on line as well. • We have translated for our Spanish speaking families • Elementary Handbook is now all online. Parents should be encouraged to view on the district and sign off that they read it. • Please continue to collect fees • Homework study policies please review with students and parents (in your packet).

  31. First Day of School Procedures First day All staff members should report to the playground before school on Tuesdayto help students to find their teacher and line up. Busses—aides will escort them to breakfast and outside Lunch routine— Kinder teachers prepare and assist students to keep things moving End of day Routine Afterschool all staff should report to the playground and Bilingual and support staff to the front of the building to walk students to the busses. Support Staff will hold bus signs and assist students finding their bus. All staff will supervise until there bus is gone, to ensure all students are safely accounted for. If any students are not picked up please send to the office. All hands on deck!! All week ALL staff please assist before and afterschool to get into a good routine in place. Hoping to have a great start to the year!!!
