The most important details are the ones supported by the text.

  8. Background… THE COLD WARThe cold war began when Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin refused to accept the Marshall Plan, which aimed to stabilize Europe’s economy after WWII. His refusal spawned great anticommunist sentiment in the United States.

Continued… • The House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) held many hearings in which prominent Hollywood actors and directors were interrogated about their involvement with the Communist Party. Many were blacklisted from the movie and television industry because of their alleged involvement with the Communists. In much of the same way, Sterling’s characters “blacklist” one another in The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street.
