  2. What is history? What is an historian? Discover the meaning of content vocabulary through storytelling and discovery Use text to become informed as well as use text and print features within the textbook Key ? Objectives

Agenda: • Intro: Mrs. Buss • Bathroom Pass (What to do?) • Whole group write in Key Question (KQ) • Whole group discussion • Independent writing/cartoon creation (4 panels) • Book distribution • Share your moment • Whole group discussion & binder set up • Textbook walk • Read to be informed; AtC p. G-G15

  4. What’s a memorable moment? • Mrs. Buss’ memorable moment from the summer

  5. Whole Group Thinking • Pick an interesting moment from your summer • What details can you remember about that moment? • How will you share your moment? • Written ideas? • Cartoon with at least 4 panels?

  6. Independent Writing • Write/create your memorable moment with as much detail as you possibly can • Complete a book walk once you have your text book and are through with your memorable moment • Come get your book when I call on you

  7. Share your moment • Share your moment with your partner by giving them your card. • Read the card your partner gave you & find 1 positive comment you can make about the moment you just read about. • Now, FIND someone you have not talked to today and TELL them about your memorable movement.

  8. Making Connections: • Write your name and the date onto the KQ paper! • Then write in today’s KQ. • Write new seats into the warm up section. • So, what is history? • Why did I have you write your memorable moment down and share them? • What is an historian? Answer the KQ for today!

  9. Binder Set Up • Put your 4 dividers into your binder • Put your index page on top of the 4 dividers • Put the KQ paper behind the 1st divider • Put the lined paper behind the KQ paper and the 1st divider • Label the 4 dividers

  10. Your textbook – Across the Centuries (AtC) • Write your name on the inside of the front cover. • Look through the text. What do you see that you like? Are there text features that you already know about? • Take this book home with you today and keep it at home! 

  11. Homework: • Read to be informed; Across the Centuries (AtC) pages G-G15 • Finish the KQ organizer for today!
