  1. February 2022, Rocklea QLD– Pacific Petroleum released a blog on why and how to change the coolant in your car. Draining the coolant removes rust and deposits that build up over time. It is good to remove these deposits as they can cause overheating and damage your entire cooling system. Coolants additionally guard metals and non- metal elastomers withinside the engine you want to alternate them to lengthen your engine`s life. Here are the things needed before changing your coolant • New coolant • Air-powered refill tool • Air compressor • Hose removal tool • Shop manual to locate block drain plugs • Drain pan • Absorbent paper towels • Wrenches and screwdrivers Steps on how to change your coolant • Open exhaust valve Open the drain valve by opening, turning a quarter turn, or twisting and pulling. Push the clamp spring with the slide joint pliers and slide the clamp away from the clamping neck. Remove the hose and drain the remaining coolant. If you have difficulty with hose clamps, you will save time and stamped joints. Lanyard pliers are available at auto parts stores or online. • Add coolant to the radiator. Repeat the process until enough system is available. • Replace thermostat and radiator cap when changing coolant The thermostat is an essential component in a Mobil regulates engine temperature. However, when changing their coolant. A mistake: a faulty thermostat is the second most common cause of overheating and engine damage (defective radiator fan is the number one cause). And worn radiator caps (sometimes on overflowing radiators) can also contribute to engine overheating. Both parts are inexpensive and provide cheap overheating insurance. • Buy the best coolant Most do-it-yourselfers buy coolant from an auto parts store because the label says it is regular, which means it works on all types of cars. Automakers disagree. Over released service advisories warning that ordinary coolants are generally not preferable with new metal alloys and gaskets used on your vehicle.
