  1. What? Women Serving Anything a man can do: preach, elder, lead singing, etc. Cannot do what God authorized

  2. Without Godly Women No elders, 1 Tim. 3:2,11 No deacons, 1 Tim. 3:12 Not many preachers! Hospitality and care, Rom. 12:13; 16:1,2; Acts 9:39

  3. They Are Taught To Teach Commanded, Mt. 28:18-20; 2 Tim. 2:2 (1 Tim. 2:4,5) They had the gift of prophecy, Joel 2:28; Acts 21:9; 1 Cor. 11:4-6 May teach men, Acts 18:24-26; Col. 3:16,17

  4. Restrictions 1 Tim. 2:11,12 Submission – HUPO–under; tasso – to arrange/order Cp. Tit. 2:15 withall authority – EPI–upon; tasso – to arrange/order.

  5. IT DOES NOT SAY “I suffer not a woman to teach a man” – contradicts Acts 18:26 (Silence – 1 Tim. 2:11,12 is quiet spirit; cp. 2 Thess. 3:12; 1 Pet. 3:4) “I suffer not a woman to teach in the church” – contradicts Col. 3:16,17

  6. Restrictions 1 Cor. 14:34,35 When is a man not to speak? When no interpreter (14:28); another receives revelation (14:30). When is a woman not to speak? When it violates “under authority” (14:34,35,4,5,12,13,18,19, 23,27,28).

  7. Has No Reference To Women singing under direction of a man, Col. 3:16,17 Women teaching women, or children, Tit. 2:3,4; 2 Tim. 1:3-5 Women teaching men under some circumstances: Bible study – asking/answering a question, Acts 18:24-26

  8. What About Gal. 3:28? Feminists believe the Bible teaches: (1) In the home, husband and wife have a mutual partnership, with neither being the leader or the one in authority. (2) In the church, gender has nothing to do with who fills any particular role; there should be NO role distinctions between men and woman (Gender Roles & The Bible, Jack Cottrell, p. 21).

  9. RESPONSE “The three pairs reflect the limitations placed on inheritance under the Mosaical Law. Under that Law, ordinarily, the rights of heirship were held by sons, or free Jewish males. Gentiles, slaves and women ordinarily did not inherit property” (Cottrell, p. 283).

  10. IN CHRIST WE ARE ONE Heirs with Christ, Gal. 3:26-29; 1 Pet. 3:7 Does not contradict the roles in the home, Eph. 5:22-25; 1 Pet. 3:1-4 Does not contradict the roles in the church, 1 Cor. 14:34,35 Does not justify homosexual/lesbian relationships, Rom. 1:26,27; 1 Cor. 6:9,10

  11. Conclusion Women may teach – except when in a position of authority over a man, or when addressing the assembly (when men are present). Problems God commands her to teach – but when arrangement is made, some criticize! When does a boy become a man? We need to encourage everyone to do what God authorized! (Acts 5:29)
