  2. As you rush from task to task in an attempt to complete your work, you may have noticed that your computer is struggling to keep up. We’ve compiled a list of the most common reasons why your computer running slow.

  3. There are too many programmes and/or browser tabs open. If you keep multiple tabs open in your browser for future reference, you will notice a significant difference if any of them auto-refresh (think news sites and live streams) or continue to install and swap advertisements.

  4. Utterly pointless software updates are clogging up your computer. This is related to the previous point, but it bears repeating and further investigation. Many programmes and applications come pre-installed with automatic updates enabled, but these can consume valuable hard drive space.

  5. Too many applications launch automatically when your computer boots up. If you are unaware that these programmes are running, they can be a significant drain on your computer’s processing speed, both when you first boot it up in the morning and during the day.

  6. Your hard drive may be full. The biggest surprise here is that your hard drive or memory performance will begin to suffer long before it reaches 100% capacity. Programs, application updates, downloads, and temporary files, are the main culprits for consuming hard drive and memory space. Internet
