  9. Results of Surveys Proficient in: presentation software, research on the internet, online discussions, hearing aids, cochlear implants, TTY or TTD.

Questions & Activity Option • If people want to continue to learn more about their topic of interest, how can they be supported in a VIRTUAL learning community. • Study Groups • People already have a passion to learn about the topic • People can unite using collaborative Internet-based technologies

Having a “Community” when we are unable to be face-to-face • What structures and support systems are required to allow people to feel the same level of comfort when learning new things through collaborating and learning using “virtual” technologies? Learning CommunitiesCommunities of PracticeProfessional Development School • Site-based “learning communities” have specific structures that encourage success. • Regular Meetings • Understood and agreed upon purpose • Sharing, learning environment • How can success be found in a virtual community? • How can participating become a valuable thing rather than just ONE MORE THING?

Classroom Technology Research • More recent research on technologies making a positive different for students • More with students who have learning issues • At risk, billingual, disabled • Few to none that focus on deafness • Deafness projects have primarily been grants through deaf/hh educational programs and have ended when the money ran out We will be sharing our reviews @ Deafed.net

What we plan to do to accomplish our goals • Design and offer virtual and face-to-face workshops, modules and seminars • ACE-DHH workshop in Banff • NTID - Instructional Tech in Deaf Ed International Symposium • Perhaps EKU workshop in summer • Offering and Support of Virtual Study Groups • Pre-service Teacher interviews of Deaf/HH individuals about technology • Technology related news in Join Together and other publications
