  2. Concept Development • Provide a safe and secure environment where children and adolescents can learn to life healthy and joyful • Empower children and adolescents to become self-sufficient • Create an atmosphere where all differences vanish • A community center that represents the union of Brazilian society • Reflect (upon prejudice, discrimination, and violence) • Change (future lifestyle) • Celebrate (culture, values, union)

  3. Concept Statement Reflect, Change, Celebrate It is important to identify and reflect upon society issues that affect the future generations of Brazil. Decaying infrastructure as a result of government neglectionbrings huge concern among Brazilians; whereas violence and crime invades the city streets decreasing tourisms and rising stereotypes. This reflection is translated into a change of lifestyle and future perceptions of class, race, and education. Overcoming such views can unfold new ways to celebrateCariocas’ culture and values. The design of this community center would speak of unity among Brazilians, regardless of social differences, to empower children and adolescents to become unprejudiced.
