  2. A few facts about Apollo • He was one of the 12 Olympian gods • Mainly he is known as the god of the sun • He was also the god of archery, prophecy, music medicine and healing. • His twin sister was Diana • It was also said that Artemis was his sister.

  3. More things about Him In Roman times July 6th through the 13th was in honor to Apollo. His parents were Jupiter and Latona. His main symbols were golden lyre, snakes, laurel and hyacinth

  4. More facts • They played games while they were there. • Many people were very fond of Apollo. • His chariot’s were thought of to bring up the sun. • It was said that he could tell the future. • In the myth at the bottom it says his parents were Hera and Leto.

The myth about Apollo • This starts out as Hera has found out that her husband Leto has had another person in her life so she sent a huge python to annoy and follow her day and night since she was about to have her twins. Now she had made it to the island of Delos where she would have Artemis. Now she was to tired to have Apollo but some how this new born baby helped her mother have Apollo. Since she did have the twins hera gave them both bows and arrows. Apollo was such a good baby that when he was only 4 days old, this is another impossible thing he went out and killed the python that harrased his mother.

  6. The rest of the myth • After he did this great thing for his mother he had to be punished because the python was the son of the goddess Gaia. To pay he was the servant of the king Admetus’ for 1 year. There he was treated very well so Apollo told him that when his time came to go back that he could continue to live if somebody died for him.

  7. More myth • One day Niobe the queen of Thebes was laughing at Leto who only had two children while the queen had seven girls and seven boys. Leto was offended so she told her children about it. The Greek god Apollo killed with his arrows Niobe's seven sons, while the goddess Artemis killed the daughters.

  8. Festavils • Apollo’s festivals began 2 centuries after the first olympic games. • This happens every four years. • It is the olympic games today. • It was a contest of who could sing, play music, make speeches, and plays. The winner got a wreath of bay leaves.
