  4. What is your funding model? • Self-supporting • Partially self-supporting • State appropriation that funds instruction • State appropriation that funds operations Regardless of the model, there is likely a budget for operations

  5. What is your revenue distribution model? • Shared directly with the academic units • Collected by the general fund and redistributed Revenue sharing for academic units creates an atmosphere of collective purpose.

  6. How are instructors compensated? • Percent of academic year salary • For the summer • By the course or credit hour • Flat amount • By the course or credit hour • Guaranteed or contingency This process can consume much of the staff’s time.

  7. What is your organizational structure? • Centralized • Decentralized Centralized structure requires more effort in developing and monitoring curriculum

  8. What is your culture? • Focused on special programs • Another academic term • Heavy marketing • Schedule-driven If it’s just another term, the Registrar’s Office may be well-equipped for the job.
