Mission facts. • Space mission “Solar Sail” is intended for investigating of possibilities of control and the dynamics of the spacecraft subjected to solar light. • It had light thin-film large-area (600 m2) panels (Sails). • Was launchedon June 21, 2005. • Unfortunately, the first stage of the Volna rocket didn’t complete its scheduled burn, and the spacecraft did not enter orbit.
Information characteristics • Downstream: up to 128 Kbps • Upstream: up to 1 Kbps • Onboard data storage: 8 Mbytes
Conclusion • Functionality and cost parameters of the mission are strongly depended of the ISS effectiveness. • Effective Information Support System can be reached by: • Using of unified equipment and resources. • Using of modern technologies and methods. • Using of experience from other industries.
