  1. Lets Make A Difference……Project We, the students of Class V F, LMA Primary, worked enthusiastically for the project ‘Let’s make a difference’. While having a discussion with our class teacher, we came to know that processed food is extremely injurious to health, whereas organic food is beneficial for us.

  2. Lets Make A Difference So, we decided to make a presentation on the benefits of different vegetables and fruits. We researched the information about some selected fruits and vegetables from our family members, encyclopedias, related books and most of all, from the internet. We also searched for recipes of some dishes of which the main ingredients are fruits and vegetables. We did this in order to encourage the use of organic food in our daily life.

  5. We are going to discuss the importance of vegetables for our health. Vegetables contains vitamins and minerals which are important for our health. Vegetables are very healthy for us.

  6. We have selected some vegetables and researched for their benefits, their components and how they are useful for our health. These vegetables are: • cucumber • Broccoli • Carrot • spinach

Cucumber • Cucumbers are good source of vitamin B. • Cucumbers are 95 percent water, keeping the body hydrated while helping the body eliminate toxin. • Cucumbers are known to contain larriciresinol, pinoresinol and secoisolariciresional .These three lingams have a strong history of research in connection with reduced risk of several cancer types including ovarian cancer , uterine cancer and prostrate cancer, etc.

Broccoli • Like many whole foods broccoli is packed with soluble fiber that draws cholesterol of your body. • Broccoli contains high levels of both calcium and vitamin K , both of which are important for bone health and prevention of osteoporosis. • Like many vegetables broccoli helps keep our whole body less acidic, which has a host of health benefits.

Broccoli Broccoli can provide you with some special cholesterol, lowering benefits if you will cook it by steaming .The fiber related components in broccoli do a better job of binding together with bile acid in digestive tract when they have been steamed. Raw broccoli also has cholesterol lowering ability.

  14. Broccoli may help us solve our vitamin D deficiency epidemic. When large supplemental doses of vitamin D are needed to offset deficiency, ample supplies of vitamin K and vitamin A help keep our vitamin D metabolism in balance. Broccoli has an unusually strong combination of both vitamin A (in the form of beta-carotene) and vitamin K. For people faced with the need to rebuild vitamin D stores through vitamin D supplements, broccoli may be an ideal food to include in the diet.

This fibrous root also addresses digestive problems and tonsillitis. Their regular intake is known to counter-attack intestinal parasites and ease constipation. A number of new-age diets have carrots as vital components of the diet plan.

It is found in fruits and vegetables that are red, yellow, or orange in colour and also in some of the green leafy vegetables. Beta carotene is converted into vitamin A in the liver. Vitamin A nourishes, develops and maintains the skin, improves eyesight, enhances hair growth, plays an important role in growth and boosts the immune system function. It is very essential for healthy eyes and a better night vision. Carrots are one of the richest sources of vitamin A. The deficiency of this vitamin can cause night blindness.

  24. SPINACH Spinach is low in calories, but loaded with minerals and vitamins. It is good for eye sight and possible protection against certain cancers.

  25. Carotene is also the colouring agent used in margarine. When ingested by Carotene is cleaved to form two molecules of vitamin A and is the major dietary source of the vitamin. Vitamin A plays an important role in vision.

  28. We selected some fruits to research on them. We found out their benefits, their components and how they are useful for our health. We researched on the following fruits: -banana -mango -orange -strawberries -sweet potato -apple

Free radicals cause chronic diseases, like cancer and heart disease.

  40. Strawberry Strawberries are nutrient rich and full of anti-oxidants like vitamin C. It is a cause of healthy eyes. It is ideal for eye care. It contains manganese which is best for bones.

  41. COMPONENTS OF STRAWBERRY • The fruit is rich in B-complex group of vitamins. Strawberries contain vitamin A, vitamin E and health promoting flavonoid poly phenol antioxidants. These compounds play a role in aging and various disease processes.

  42. Sweet potatoes Sweet potatoes are high in B6. They are a good source of vitamin C . They also contain vitamin D. Sweet potatoes contain iron too.

  43. Apple • Apple gives us iron. It keeps the doctor away. It helps to make blood. Apples are filled with soluble fiber (5 grams). This fiber has been shown to reduce intestinal disorders, including diverticulitis, hemorrhoids and possibly some types of cancer. It helps control insulin levels by releasing sugar slowly into the bloodstream. It cleanses and detoxifies, which helps eliminate heavy metals, such as lead and mercury.

Consumption of foods rich in vitamin C helps the body develop resistance against infection. Apple also contains a small amount of minerals like potassium, phosphorus, and calcium. Potassium helps controlling heart rate and blood pressure.
