  2. LAMBASTE |verb| Attack; usually with words. Often here in LHS, students lambaste one another on how they look and dress.

  3. Impasse |Noun | No progress Because of heavy traffic in Manila, an impasse has been created, which caused workers and students to be late for work or school.

  4. Jargon|Noun| • Slang • In this generation, teenagers, inspired by rappers, tend to create jargons. For example, they would say “boul” which means boy.

  5. Deter |Verb| Prevent; block Since there is a road accident, caused by a truck on the route that John’s taking, knows that it will deter him getting to work on time.

  6. Tenuous |adj.| • Weak, thin • There’s a tenuous line between love and hate. In similarity, there’s a fine line between clever and stupidity.

  7. Vigorous |Adj.| Energetic, powerful After days of hard workand memorization, when it came to auditions she delivered a vigorous monologue that blew everybody in the audience away.

  8. Amity |Noun| Friendship Because the five girls have known each other since kindergarten, they have a strong amity, always enjoying each other’s company.

  9. Gravitas |noun| • High seriousness During the play, “Stand And Deliver”, when Gabe Cisneros delivered his monologue, he delivered it with a lot of gravitas, which gave him a standing ovation from the audience.

  10. Emphatic |adjective| • Assertive, Confident On the day of the presentation, the student, who excels in his class, was emphatic on his English 10 vocab.

  11. Vehement |adj.| Showing strong feeling; Passionate ; intense A vehement, strong monologue was delivered by Michael Peak as he played the role of Jaime Escalante during the fall play called “Stand and Deliver”

  12. Preeminent |Adj.| Above the rest ; superior. Because she works very hard to achieve her goals, she is the preeminent student among her classmates.
