  2. We are having a Read-a-thon… A Read-a-thon is a great way to raise money because 100%of the money raised goes back to our school!

  4. We are having a Read-a-thon… Student Goal – Each Student Raises $25 Example:

  5. How It Works… Take Home Pledge Packet Go to www.riggsreadathon.org Click on the Register to Participate button! Your sponsors will click Support a Participant button to sponsor you.

  6. How It Works… Ask Parents…Grandparents…Auntsand Uncles… Family Friends to pledge either a $$ amount per minute or a flat amount

  7. How It Works… Start Reading!!!

  8. Read-a-thon Rules • Reading must take place outside of school. • You can only read a book once for the contest. • You can read independently or other people can read to you…If you read to your friend or sibling, it counts for both of you!

  9. Read-a-thon Rules (Page 2) • Reading aloud to the dog…the cat…the goldfish...on the bus…in a car…in a tree counts… or under the bed covers with a flashlight counts.

  10. Read-a-thon Rules (Page 3) • Reading instead of doing homework does not count. Reading instead of watching TV does! • Assigned reading for homework and book reports counts. • The total # of minutes for a weekday = 300 The total # of minutes for a weekend day/holiday = 600

  11. How you win… Star Reader - The student in each grade that READS the most minutes and the student who earns the most money! Star Readers will get to go in a Limo to SONIC with Mrs. Weyenberg!

  12. How you win… Class Winners will get one of these parties… • Electronics or Game Board Party • Movie • Dodgeball Party • Wii Dance Party

  13. How you win… If you earn more than $25 in pledges will be entered into a drawing to win one of many prizes… Sonic, Dairy Queen, Frost… And many more…

  14. How you win… Every student that participates will receive a certificate and a prize just for turning in your form There will also be a daily prize drawing during collection week, so make sure you get your pledge forms and donations in early!

  15. How you win… And for the Teacher of the classes that win will receive a gift from one of the great places… Blue 32 Sports Grill, Cantino Laredo, Gordos Restaurant, Grimaldi’s, PF Changs, Ooh La La Boutique, The Body Kitchen

  16. Timeline of Events • Get Pledges from 8/26 to 8/31 • Read, Read, Read from 9/1 to 9/8 • Turn In your pledge forms from 9/9 to 9/13 • Winners will be announced the following week!
