  2. On-Page Optimization Onpageoptimization (AKA on-page SEO) refers to all measures that can be taken directly within the website in order to improve its position in the search rankings.

  3. Title Tag OptimizationThe title tag is the one of the simplest, yet quite possibly most important aspect of on-page SEO. The format for writing a title tag in HTML is as follows:

  4. The title of the website is not only an important factor because it is the title of that page, but it is usually what is displayed in the search results as well. Google typically displays the first 50-60 characters of a title tag, or as many characters as will fit into a 512-pixel display.

  5. create unique title tags for each page • avoid using the same title tag across multiple pages • avoid using vague title tags such as “our homepage” • put the most important keywords or the keywords you are trying to rank

  6. Meta Description

  7. Although Google has said in the past that meta descriptions are not a ranking factor, we believe they are still important for SEO. You can use up to approximately between 150 – 160 characters (including spaces) for your Meta description.

  8. There are circumstances when Google will completely ignore your meta description tag in the search results. We’ve seen this a number of times. If your meta description is full of spammy keywords, is way too long, is grammatically whack, or just doesn’t make sense Google might take text from somewhere else in your website or show a message of its own.

  9. If you forgot to add a meta description to your page, Google might choose one for you, or if they can’t figure out the best description they may just leave it blank. This is inherently bad for CTR and not something you want to do, so fill in your meta descriptions especially for the important pages.

  10. Header Tags

  11. Heading tags are used to differentiate the heading of a page from the rest of the content. Theoretically, there should be one H1 tag per page only.

  12. Image Optimization

  13. A lot of people don’t realize how much images play into the importance of SEO in general. It is well known that Google prefers pages with rich media. Meaning, it will generally prefer a website with lots of images, videos, PDFs, etc than one that is just plain text.

  14. Image alt and description tags Your web browser will instead display the alternative text or “alt” tag if image cannot be displayed. It helps you rank better in Google Image Search. Another reason you should use alt tags in your images is if you are using your image as a link anchor.

  15. Google doesn’t recommend using too many image links within a page

  16. Internal Linking

  17. An internal link is a hyperlink that connects a page within a website, to another page within the same website. An internal link differs from an external link in fact that the source and destination link is the same. • Uses of Internal Links • menu or navigation • sub navigation internal links such as footer links • within a page or like this • to launch an application • special links such as tel: or mailto: • many more

  18. The Right Anchor Text If you think about SEO and Googlebot in the realm of your site gives clues to Google about how you want it to rank, think about it this example. Google crawls these next 2 sentences: Both links point to the same URL, but one is anchored with the word “really” and the other is anchored with the word “internal linking.”

  19. Be Natural, Be Relevant, Be Reasonable One huge way to make your website visitors angry is to be weird about the way you link.

  20. Don’t Overdo It Most of all, internal links are cues to help your website visitors find what they are looking for. Let’s look at these 2 sample paragraphs of text:

  21. Robots.txt

  22. The robots.txt file is a file that you create that exists on your server that tells bots like Google and Bing (as well as some “bad” bots) where to crawl and where not to crawl. This file mainly exists as a guide for bots to show them where, and sometimes how often to crawl.

  23. Blogging

  24. In the past 5 years blogging has gone from an obscure hobby to a mandatory part of every internet marketing and SEO campaign. Blogging is an excellent way to connect with your customers and potential customers. Integrating a blog into a website is something that we consider mandatory. Failure to implement a blog won’t cause any negative effects, but it is definitely a wasted opportunity from an SEO perspective.

  25. Website and Page Speed

  26. A slow page speed means that search engines can crawl fewer pages using their allocated crawl budget, and this could negatively affect your indexation. Page speed is also important to user experience. Pages with a longer load time tend to have higher bounce rates and lower average time on page. Longer load times have also been shown to negatively affect conversions

  27. Social Sharing and Social Media

  28. Having a social presence on your website is mandatory. At minimum we recommend social sharing buttons on all user generated content, and links to social networks somewhere within the website, preferably site-wide. When your content or brand is shared or even mentioned, positive things tend to happen from an SEO standpoint.

  29. Rel=Canonical

  30. A canonical tag is a way of telling search engines that a specific URL represents the master copy of a page. Using the canonical tag prevents problems caused by identical or "duplicate" content appearing on multiple URLs.

  31. XML sitemap

  32. A site map is a model of a website's content designed to help both users and search engines navigate the site. A site map can be a hierarchical list of pages (with links) organized by topic, an organization chart, or an XML document that provides instructions to search engine crawl bots.
