  4. Human & Physical Features Here are some facts about the human and physical features of Honduras. First of all, the population (2005 estimate) in Honduras is 6,834,000, while the U.S. population is 299,846,000. The life expectancy (years) (2005-2010 estimate) is 70.2, and in the U.S. it is 78.2. Also, there our 57 doctors (per 100,000 pop.) (1997-2003). In the U.S. there are 256 doctors. The literacy rate (percentage) (2000-2005) is 78, but in theU.S.it is 86. Finally, the total area (square miles) of Honduras is 43,278 miles, andthe U.S. has 3,794,083 miles. As you can see, there is a big contrast between Honduras and U.S. when comparing human and physical features.
  5. Flag The Honduran flag is very distinctive. To begin with,Honduras’s flag is blue and white. The blue stripes signify the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. The five stars represent the five nations of the United Nationsof Central America (Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Guatemala). Incidentally, there is the hope that the nations may form a union again. The flag was adopted on January 9, 1866 making it one of the oldest flags. The present Honduran flag is similar to that of the United Nationsof Central American flag, which came to an end (1838 to 1839). Finally, the Honduran flag colors also remain in the flags of the other former members.

  7. Religion The people of Honduras are mostly Roman Catholic. The origins and history are founded by Jesus Christ in C.30 A.D.,Israel. Also, the adherants worldwide are 2 billion. The Gods and Universe in Christianityare one God who is a trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The after life in Christianityis eternal heaven or hell (or temporary purgatory). In addition,Christianspractices includeprayer, Bible study, and Baptism Eucharist (communion), church on Sunday, and numerous holidays. Finally, the main religious text in Christianityis the Bible (both the Old and New Testament).

  9. Animals, Plants, & Natural Resources There is a great deal of natural diversity in Honduras. First of all,Honduras’s national tree is the Pine tree, which is grown in many places. The national bird of Honduras is the Scarlet Macaw. It is about 81 centimeters long. Another animal in Honduras is the jaguar. The jaguar is larger and has less rossets than the leopard. Also, a natural resource in Honduras is the banana. Banana’s are naturally radioactive, and they contain a high amount of potassium. Cofee is another natural resource and the most popular drink today. Coffee was first discovered by a herd of goats. In addition, another important natural resource is citrus fruits. Citrus fruitshave been farmed since the mid-1800’s. Citrus fruits were brought to the new world by Christopher Columbus.
