  1. Midterm - 1Instructions

  2. Midterm 1 When: Week 5 - Friday, June 7 9:30 am – 10:20 am Where: SSCB 9201 Duration: 45 minutes (+ 5 minutes to organize ourselves)

  3. What to study Cover:Everything is subject to our Midterm 1 i.e., all material from Lecture 1 to (and including) Lecture 11 on Friday, May 31 (cut off) This include: • Partial lecture notes + our own lecture notes • Weekly Exercises 1 to 4 • All practice exams • All readings, programs, etc… posted on our course web site and associated with Lecture 1 to Lecture 11 inclusively • Good Programming Style (GPS) on our course web site

  4. Midterm Format This midterm 1 will be paper-based! No laptop. No Repl.it! • The Theory and Understanding portion of the midterm will be multiple-choice questions • The Coding portion of the midterm will be composed of questions requiring written answers such as write, modify and/or test and debug a Python code fragment or a program

  5. How to study • Practise developing Python programs(i.e., writing Python code) • Make sure we have read and understood readings, course lecture notes and programs, etc… posted on our course web site

  6. When arriving in classroom • Take pens, pencils and eraser out of our bag • Place everything (bags, books, coats, calculators, computer, cell phones, etc.) at frontof classroom • Find a seat forming a column as illustrated on next slide

  7. Exam Seating Arrangement Each intersection represents a seat in the classroom Represents a student seated at a seat Represents avacant seat Front of classroom EVERYTHING HERE (included cell phones and laptops)!Except pens, pencils, eraser

  8. While distributing the Midterm • Once we have received our midterm, let’s leave the midterm face up on our table Please, DO NOT touch the midterm! i.e., DO NOT leaf through the midterm i.e., DO NOT write our name on the midterm • Why? Because it is unfair to all other students who have not yet received a midterm Take this time to read the instructions on the front page of the midterm

  9. While distributing the Midterm • When all students have received a midterm, we will be instructed as follows We may start our midterm now!

  10. During the midterm • If we have a question, we raise our hand • The instructor is the only person answering questions during the midterm

  11. At the end of midterm • When we are told to Please, stop writing! please, do stop writing and hand in our midterm as instructed • Why? Because, if we continue writing, it is unfair toall other students who have stopped writing
