In her role, she has lead the development of the government’s response to the Cohen Commission recommendations on the decline of Fraser Sockeye, and most recently the collaborative process undertaken to develop and launch DFO’s new five-year Wild Salmon Policy Implementation Plan. Related to Pacific salmon, she also oversees the secretariat for the Canadian component of the Pacific Salmon Commission, which recently completed successful chapter re-negotiations of the Pacific Salmon Treaty, which details key obligations for both Canada and U.S. under the Treaty. Zo Ann Morten ZoAnn Morten is the executive director of the Pacific Streamkeepers Federation, a non profit society, a role she has held since 1995. Zo Ann keeps one foot in the creek with the other in the board room and has the distinct pleasure of working with Streamkeeper volunteers, ENGO's, agency and government personnel from across Canada. She has been active on many committees and contributed to policy development, program reviews, and action plans. These include the Pacific Salmon Foundation Community Salmon Program grant allocation committee, Salmon Enhancement and Habitat Advisory Board, Marine Conservation Caucus, Fraser Salmon and Watersheds Program, and Georgia Basin Living Rivers.

Q.4. What was the best aspect of the workshop? Public input. The Q & A near the end. The wide variety of attendees. Dialogue between DFO and Streamkeepers. Simplicity with good organization. DFO participation especially MP Wilkinson. The Q & A speakers. Great stakeholders and representation in the panel. Q & A – excellent feedback, cookies, slide show concise. Brilliant points raised. The discussion panel. Q. 5 What aspect of the workshop needs improvement? Please add affiliation to name tags. Integration with local outdoor projects and samples with the workshop material. Could have better answers from DFO. What happened to the old stats? Need more meetings/workshops. More time for questions. Q.6 Would you attend a new workshop by NSSK, and if so please suggest topic? Have govt. officials stay to the end (X2). Spill response by stakeholders together and come up with a real plan (X2). Policy and how it affects the other communities in BC. Stormwater management. Hazmat team now. Aquaculture, open data coordination. Have more fisheries officers (X2).

We also used Eventbrite to print name cards, attendance lists and reports Attendance 109 participants, The majority registered prior to the event, but there were about 25 drop-ins or late registrants.
