  8. Developing Community – Mt. 9:35-38 • We See • We Trust • We Enter • We Touch

  9. Developing Community – Mt. 9:35-38 • We See - Observation but also Discernment - sensitivity to what God’s Spirit is doing in that person’s life, what is going on Lord. Good and bad things are brought to light. Envisioning - seeing what we can become.

  10. Developing Community – Mt. 9:35-38 • We Trust - We trust what God says about us about our hurting friend to be true. We trust His promises. He who has begun this good work in us will bring it to completion. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Never will I leave you. Never will I forsake you (Hebrews 13:5) We trust our brother or sister in need.

  11. Developing Community – Mt. 9:35-38 • We Enter - We enter a person’s life not as the doctor, the teacher, or the answer man, but as a brother or sister who is on the journey with them. We enter because they trust us, because we too have been vulnerable. They know that we, like they are broken yet in Christ are strong. There have been some storms during our journey with Jesus and He has seen us through. There is integrity, honesty, a mutual sharing.

  12. Developing Community – Mt. 9:35-38 • We Touch - We have listened to our friend in need. We have listened to God and what He gives us what give to them. It may be a hug, a verse from scripture, some questions. May be a rebuke or advice. We are merely messengers of the Good Shepherd who is giving us the special privilege of being an under shepherd.

  13. "Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other."John 13:34,35
