Product Development Program (PDP) • Involves technology and product/strategic design students • Work in teams of 10 on a future oriented conceptual design project for a company • Project proposal is developed by students with objective to create a functional prototype • Academic credit Professor Kalevi Ekman, HUT

Product Development Program (PDP) • Sponsors pay a project fee of €10.000 and must be actively engaged • Completed work is owned by the company • Since 1997, 83 projects involving 780 students with 20% of the student body international • Companies include Kone, Nokia, Stora Enso, Finnish Red Cross among others • Rapidly evolving plan to establish a Product Development Laboratory

International Design Business Management Program (IDBM) • Program started in 1995 • 10-15 students yearly drawn from the technical, business and design universities work in teams of 3-5 on projects commissioned by companies • Projects include new product concepts, definition of customer needs, market analysis, corporate identity and so on • Since 1995, 80 projects have been completed for leading Finnish companies Markku Salimäki

  6. International Design Business Management Program (IDBM) • Companies provide a €10.000 budget for the project • Travel budget • Student rewards • Project supervision & Tutoring • Administration • Credited as a minor in Master’s degree Markku Salimäki
