  2. We know that bugs come in many different types, sizes, shapes and colors. We will learn the difference between “bugs” and “insects” by the time we finish our lesson today.

  3. Remember when we read the story last week about the “Two Bad Ants” you were able to recognize the insects from that story.

  4. What is Miss Tenorio’s favorite children’s book? Is the spider in “Charlotte’s Web” an insect?

  5. NO! Spiders are not insects because they have only two body sections: head and abdomen They also have 8 legs not 6 legs like insects

  6. In the story “Wiggling Worms at Work” do the working worms have 6 legs and divided into 3 parts?

  7. NO! The wiggling worms are not insects because they do not have any legs and are not divided into 3 parts.

  8. Insect: 6 legs 3 body parts- (head, thorax, abdomen) Antennae Wings (sometimes)

  9. How many legs does an insects? How many body parts does an insect have? What are they called? Do insects have antennas? Do insects have wings?

  10. Insects have: 6 legs 3 body parts (head, thorax and abdomen) Yes, they have antennas Yes, they have wings

  11. Today we learned what makes insects different from other bugs and creepy crawlers. Now when you look at insects and bugs you will be able to know which one is which.
