  3. Leaders: SSM: Lahore Prof. Gurmukh Singh: Most influential leader during SSM. Merged Lahore and Amritsar Movements together to make united Khalsa Divan.  Clear vision of Sikhism Strong Personality Giani Ditt Singh: Broke huge caste and cultural barriers. Wrote essays with huge impact during that time, including one's going in depth on the corruption of the gurdwaras Kahan Singh: Great Sikh scholar; Western ideas that the British had brought;  - Wrote "Hum Hindu Nahi"

  4. Leaders: SSM: Amritsar - Bhai Vir Singh: Wrote Children's books, he was really influential, Emphasized that Sikh was impervious to gender, social, and cultural inequality.  Pandit Tara Singh: helped with the understanding of Bani. Guru Granth Kosh

  5. Modern Day Leaders Nelson Mandela - South African Leader that reunited the country. Never spoke badly about the other parties. MLK - Didn't give up hope when hardship hit. Gave a voice to the voiceless Mother Teresa: Led a team of missionaries and helped poor, sick, and needy people of India.

Characteristics of Leaders • Honest • Forward-Looking • Competent • Inspiring • Intelligent • A leader is.....uses good problem solving, decision making , and time planning skills • A leader is....Someone who sincerely cares for the people around them • A leader is....someone who knows how to communicate well and be on the same page with his peers

  9. Styles of Leadership Phil vs Kobe? Actions over Words?  Passive or aggressive? Leadership vs Management? "A manager is doing things right, a leader does right things. It is truly essential for leaders to establish a right direction for followers." Have you been a leader? What do you think was most important in that experience? What trait was most useful in that situation? Challenges? Overcoming Individualism, Going against the grain, etc.
