HORSE BREEDS. INTRODUCTION. Ω My topic this year is about horse breeds. Ω I have chosen eight horses. Ω I chose this topic because horses are my favorite animals. Ω One of the reasons I love horses is because my Grandma was a barrel racing. Ω My third cousin has a farm with 7 horses.

  2. INTRODUCTION Ω My topic this year is about horse breeds. Ω I have chosen eight horses. Ω I chose this topic because horses are my favorite animals. Ω One of the reasons I love horses is because my Grandma was a barrel racing. Ω My third cousin has a farm with 7 horses. Ω I hope that from this presentation you will be interested in learning more about horses.

  3. ABACO BARBS Ω Abaco Barbs are light horses. Ω They originally came from the Bahamas. It is believed that they came from horses that were brought over by the Spanish and swam to shore from shipwrecks. Ω Abaco Barbs are very rare. There are only 12 horses in the world! Ω Abaco Barbs are best left alone in the wild, without being bothered by humans.   4. ARABIANS Ω Arabians are the most common breed of domesticated horse. Ω Arabians originally came from the Middle East. Ω Arabians have amazing endurance. They have been used to breed with other types of horses, in order to pass along this trait. Ω Arabians are not work horses. They are more suited for pleasure riding.

  6. CLYDESDALE Ω Clydesdales are known as heavy horses, standing about 1/3 taller than other horses. Ω Clydesdales were bred in Scotland, and are suitable for heavy work on the rugged landscape. Ω Their hooves are covered with long, white hair.. Ω It is common for Clydesdales to have white markings on their nose and legs.   7. FRIESIAN Ω Friesians are large horses, somewhere between the size of an Arabian and a Clydesdale. Ω Friesian horses are originally from the Netherlands. Ω These horses are always black. There are very few with a white star on the bridge of the nose. They also have a tuft of hair at the ankles. Ω Friesian horses are used for dressage and pleasure riding.

  9. KIGER MUSTANG Ω Kigers are named after the mountain range in Oregon in which they were discovered in 1977. Ω They are believed to have come from Spanish horses. Ω These are a group of wild mustangs, but individual horses have been tamed. Ω Kigers are popular with ranchers as cattle drive horses. They also make good trail riding horses.

  11. MUSTANG Ω The name Mustang means “mixed breed.” Ω Mustangs originated in the Great Plains of North America. Ω These horses are incredibly smart, they are tough and strong, and they adapt to new situations easily. Ω Their endurance makes Mustangs good for ranch work, long trail rides, and are also good at competing.

  13. SHETLAND PONY Ω Shetland Ponies are much shorter than most horses, but NOT the smallest ones of all. Ω The ancestry of the Shetland Pony is from Great Britain, and possibly Scandinavia.. Ω If a Shetland Pony is born in winter, it will not grow until warmer weather arrives. Ω Shetland Ponies are should only be ridden by children 80 pounds and under.

  15. SHIRE Ω Shires are the biggest horse in the world. The tallest ones are 1 ½ times the size of an average horse. Ω Shires are from England. Its ancestry comes from the horses King Henry II used for his army. Ω Shires are called Draft horses, and are an excellent breed for pulling heavy loads.
