  2. A Couple Things • Vote! • http://www.ieee.org/about/corporate/election/index.html • Networking

  3. Goals—Marketing • Goal: Promote the IEEE Central Texas Section brand, history and accomplishments through an improved marketing effort. • Approach: Establish a PR Leadership position. Provide four press releases per year. Develop relationship with local press. Develop a relationship with University students and have them create YouTube videos from our events.

  4. Some Goals—Industry, Government & Academic Relationships • Goal: Meet with local industry, government and university leaders to establish cooperation. Leverage IEEE’s reputation in Standards and our ability to educate employees to gain traction with employers. • Approach: Establish 3 Liaison Roles. Meet once per year with five industry leaders, state and local government leaders and deans of five Schools of Engineering. Industry to support one Hackathon per year.

  5. Goals—Recognition • Goal: Recognize industry, government and academic institutions that support IEEE members by giving awards. • Approach: Awards Chair to seek nominations. Nominate award recipients for Region 5; one small, one large.

  6. Goals—Diversity • Goal: Use Meetups and Hackathons to increase gender and age diversity in our membership. • Approach: YP Chair to hold one Hackathon and develop a series of Meetups. Work with Industry Liaison to identify sponsor company.

  7. Recent News—Region 5 Meeting • Region 5 has selected CTS to host the 2018 Region 5 Meeting and Green Tech Conference! Thank you to all those who helped put together the application. Work on this is beginning now!

  8. Recent News—New Chapters • We have a new Chapter, MEMS and Sensors. Thanks to Brent Lunceford, who is championing this! • We are in the process of creating a joint Computer Society / Engineering and Medical Biology Chapter. Thanks to Fawzi Behmann who is championing this!

  9. Recent News—WIE • Cirrus Logic hosting • Monthly Book Club • Topic: Thriving and Surviving in the Workplace
