First space mission – November 19,1997 – Space shuttle Columbia • Second mission in July 16,2003 • Research Scientist • The space shuttle crashed and Kalpana died along with the other crew members, while returning on February 1,2003 • Determined, ambitious and strong woman • Second Indian to travel to space
