  4. Audit Plan Should be designed to be flexible to allow changes based on information collected during the audit and to ensure efficient use of resources.

  5. Preparing the Audit • Audit team assignments • Working documents • Preliminary document review

  6. Conducting the Audit • Hold opening meeting • Collect audit evidence • Develop audit findings • Conduct closing meeting

  7. Reporting • Preparation • Content • Distribution • Document Retention

  8. Completion • The audit is completed once all the activities defined in the audit plan have been concluded. • Management is responsible for reviewing audit results to assess the need for change. • Then the process starts again...

  9. Continual Improvement Management must regularly review the EMS and audit results to ensure sustained improvement in environmental performance and compliance with changing regulations. An organization must be committed to continual improvement of environmental performance so that its EMS continues to be effective and environmental aspects are always factored into business decisions.
