Stoma Care Nurses (SCN’S) were the first specialist within the organisation, commencing 1982. Our aim is to give patients in our care the optimum quality of life following stoma formation, by providing a comprehensive service of clinical care, psychological support and management both pre and post-operatively. The Stoma Care team continues to provide support and advice throughout the rehabilitation process, to ensure patient’s regain maximum independence and are able to return to their normal lifestyle after surgery. The SCN provide a resource of expertise for other healthcare professionals involved in the care of the patient, and will strive to develop and advance the practice of stoma care.
