  2. GCSE SPECIFICATIONYEAR 11 2013-2014 THIS YEAR UNIT 1 – TECHNOLOGY & DESIGN CORE (20%) UNIT 3 – Product Design (20%) Unit 4 – Design Assignment Exam at end of year 11 on both unit 1 and 3. This will make up 40% of your GCSE. This exam will last 2hrs: 1hr for unit 1 and 1hr for unit 3. NEXT YEAR UNIT 5 – DESIGN ASSIGNMENT (40%)

  3. UNIT BREAKDOWNYEAR 11 Unit 1 Manufacturing; Electronics; Mechanical control systems; Computer control systems; and Pneumatic systems and control. Unit 3 Designing and innovation Materials, components and fabrication Manufacturing practices Social responsibility of product design *This will be assessed by exam at the end of year 11.

  4. Next yearYear 12 Next year you will compete unit 5. This unit enables you to demonstrate your capability to design a product under controlled conditions. This is worth 20%
