1. Kaptain America- Sacrifice Everything! Monday, Colin Kaepernick took to his Instagram account debuting his Nike ad campaign for their 30th anniversary. After being shut out by the entire National Football Association forcing him to become a free agent, this is without a doubt a huge win for the quarterback/activist. When Kaepernick first took a knee during the national anthem in 2016 as a silent peaceful protest, I doubt he ever thought it would go this far. He was first trying to raise awareness about the racial injustice in America but soon realized that his calling was much deeper than that after igniting the racist hellfire in the underbelly of many white americans. “Dag nabbit he hates America!” “Stand dammit! Stop disrespecting our flag and our troops!” [insert extreme eye roll] He literally has explained multiple times why he kneels in the most simple manner for the hard of comprehending and also in depth for the ones that just want to argue. Yet racists still manage to make it about them somehow. It has nothing to do with a song that never had black people in mind in the first place, but the fact that many african americans are losing their lives day to day at the hands of undeserving badge carrying, gun wielding, police officers. After he and many other players expressed themselves, white racists still managed to shout “but the flag!” confirming to not care one bit that many african americans young, old, men and women were being permanently taken away from their families. Instead of giving in and being strong armed into standing by the NFL, he put his career on the line to keep fighting for what he and many of us believe in. So when Nike released that ad it was RIGHT ON TIME! “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” Skeptics believe this is a marketing ploy but Nike is a multinational billion dollar company. They have no reason to pull “stunts” to boost sales. They actually are taking a slight risk by backing Colin Kaepernick seeing how many racists came out the woodworks in protest of this campaign. Idiots, I mean people, are actually setting fire to their already purchased Nike gear, some while still wearing them! How angry and excessively racist do you have to be to not even take the shoes off of your feet before lighting them on fire?! Nike definitely gets a huge thumbs up for showing support to Colin Kaepernick! Not only are they supporting him but they are set to run the ad during the NFL’s opening telecast! Talk about multiple slaps in the face! Just as the racists call out for a boycott of Nike, there are plenty of people calling out for a boycott of the NFL. I honestly don’t even watch football on tv so I am wayyyy ahead of you. The ad features many athletes and people that had to go through a lot to get to where they are. It is beautiful.
