  2. GENERAL INFORMATION • It is made of the three elements that are: the anode, the electrocyte and by the cathode • It is a little device that creates a electric charge by a chemical reaction • When the chemical reaction occurs water or carbon dioxide are produced at the same time the energy is produced too The electrocyte The cathode The anode An energy generator that uses fuel cells

  3. GENERAL INFORMATION • Hydrogen fuel cells are a type of chemical energy • This energy source is renewable • It creates normal energy that can be used in many things • It can be used in cars, boats, trains or buses A person using fuel cells for the car

  4. HISTORY • Hydrogen fuel cells were discovered around the year 1838 by a scientist called Christian Friedrich • years later, general electric take the fuel cell device and changed some times • The fuel cell device later was used by the NASA • The fuel cell that was presented to the world had similar components as the phosphoric acid fuel cell used today Phosphoric acid fuel cell plant or generator

  5. COSTS • A simple fuel cell industry would cost around $750 million • An electrical tend for a small city or town it would cost around $12 million • And finally a fuel cell platen would cost around $1500 • A total cost would be around $763 million A normal fuel cell industry

  6. PROS AND CONS • It is clean • It functions with renewable fuels • It works continuously • It doesn’t need to be charged again and again • The fuel that uses can be made of water • It is renewable • Has a high cost because of the materials • Requires fuel • It is not so durable • It is not dense enough • Has less density than the common gasoline • It needs special cars or busses to use it PROS CONS

  7. INTERESTING FACTS • If we would use this type of resource in Ecuador the plant would be located in the outer parts of the city • If we use this type of resource the busses and the cars would be less contaminating • This source wouldn’t be so simple to use because it has high costs and because people who have a normal car would need to buy a special one that uses fuel cells
