    3. Executive Order 12674 Public service is a public trust Employees shall not hold financial interests that conflict with the conscientious performance of duty Employees shall not engage in financial transactions using nonpublic Government information

    4. Executive Order 12674 An employee shall not solicit or accept any gift from a prohibited source Employees shall put forth honest effort in the performance of their duties Employees shall not knowingly make unauthorized commitments or promises of any kind purporting to bind the Government

    5. Executive Order 12674 Employees shall not use public office for private gain Employees shall act impartially and shall not give preferential treatment to any private organization or individual Employees shall protect and conserve Federal property

    6. Executive Order 12674 Employees shall not engage in outside employment or activities that conflict with their official Government duties and responsibilities Employees shall disclose waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption to appropriate authorities

    7. Executive Order 12674 Employees shall satisfy in good faith their obligation as citizens, including all just financial obligations, especially those – such as Federal, State, or local taxes – that are imposed by law Employees shall adhere to all laws and regulations that provide equal opportunity for all Americans

    8. Executive Order 12674 Employees shall endeavor to avoid any actions creating the appearance that they are violating the law or the ethical standards promulgated pursuant to this order.

    12. Gifts: Prohibited Sources Who are prohibited sources? Anyone who: Has or seeks business from your agency Is regulated by your agency Has interests that may be affected by the performance or non-performance of your official duties

    13. Gifts: Exclusions What isn’t a gift? Snacks Items of little intrinsic value Anything you pay market value for Anything paid for by the government or accepted under statutory authority Anything available to the public

    14. Gifts: Exceptions What kinds of gifts may you accept? $20 or less Personal/outside business relationships Widely attended gatherings and other events attended in official capacity Discounts/freebies available to public or to all government employees
