  2. Bravo Wiki Patrol After navigating the materials provided, you should be able to: • Understand how a wiki can be more effective than email • Know some of the popular uses for a wiki • Understand how teachers and students can use a wiki to collaborate

  3. Bravo Wiki Patrol • To get started, click on the Video link and watch the video.

  4. Wiki Video • To access the video on our Wiki click on the video link located in the navigation panel on left hand side of the Wiki. • Simply click play and watch the short video entitled “Wikis in Plain English” (LeeFever, & LeeFever, 2007) • Once you have finished this presentation, go to the discussion page and answer the video questions.

  5. Bravo Wiki Patrol • After watching the video, take a look at the concept map. • Think about what you might add to the concept map. Once you’ve finished this presentation, post your thoughts on the discussion board.

Please Read the Following & Answer the Questions • Wikis are used to create Public and Private collaborative communities. • WikiSpaces is an online tool that allows teachers and students to collaboratively work online contributing to learning projects. • Wikis allow teachers the ability to easily communicate with parents about student progress.

Compare the Use of Wikis Wiki uses for Students Wiki Uses for Teachers • Work together on collaborative projects. • Share study guides and other resources and information. • Receive homework assignments. • Submit questions to the teacher. • Use as an online graffiti space for personal expression. • Monitor and interact with students while they work. • Post assignments. • Create lists of online resources with active links. • Create study sheets. • Collaborate with teachers and students from anywhere in the world. • Create FAQ (frequently asked questions) pages. WikiSpaces Cont. • Promotes communication • Encourages participation from students • When creating a Wiki page it includes an Edit and Save for communication and changes to be made by Teachers or Students with permissions to the Wiki. • The permission settings are Private, Public & Protected • Wikis keep the learning process interesting and fun. • Wikis are great for group projects and asynchronous learning environments.
