  2. Band is year-long, every day. (Students may join clubs to pursue other interests in the absence of elective choice). • Students are expected to provide their own instruments, method book, and necessary supplies. (Exceptions are school-owned large instruments like tubas). • Students are expected to purchase a uniform shirt for performances ($17) and have black pants and shoes to wear with it. Facts

  3. Instruments with no limit: • Flute • Clarinet • Trumpet • Trombone • Instruments with limits: • Alto Saxophone (3 per track) • Tenor Saxophone (2 per track) • Oboe (2 per track) • Bass Clarinet (2 per track) • Percussion (4 per track) Instrument Availability

  4. French horn-4 available • Tuba-4 available • Baritone-4 available • Fee of $25 to rent for the year (to cover cleaning and maintenance) • Must purchase your own mouthpiece • Primary instrument availability (Flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone) will not be known until the beginning of the school year. School Owned Instruments

  5. After school: • 2 concerts (fall and spring) • Students report at 6:30 • Concert starts at 7, usually held in the gym • Uniforms required • Over by 8pm • During school: • Arts department assemblies, usually once per 9 weeks. • During 7th or 8th period. • Wear uniforms. Performances

  6. Pep band for football and basketball-6th graders required to audition. • Jazz band in April/May-audition required. • All County Honors Band • All District Honors Band • Solo and Ensemble Festival • Community events • School spring talent show Extra Options

  7. Students are expected to practice 5 times per week, 15 minutes (or longer) each time. • Students will have some written music theory tests as well as playing tests. • Concert attendance is graded and mandatory. Academic requirements
