  6. Apprenticeship focus based on team-teaching of matched Level 1 Apprenticeship and secondary curriculum delivered at a secondary school (Approach 4A); at a college (Approach 4B)

  7. Building Connections: Construction Apprenticeship Level 1 • Eastern Lakeshore RPT • Students enroll in grade 12 Construction technology • Must have grade 11 Construction technology as a pre-requisite • Part of a Specialist High Skills Major in Construction

Building Connections: Construction Apprenticeship Level 1 • Eastern Lakeshore RPT • Team taught • Secondary curriculum and apprenticeship requirements aligned • Successful students earn secondary credits and four college credits which equate with Basic Construction, in school • Opportunity for articulation also developed

  9. Building Construction Internship/OYAP/SHSM Focus Program • PASS RPT • Team taught • First 14 weeks of the semester, students complete Level 1 Carpentry • Delivered at college • Last 4 weeks, students are on coop placement • Students earn 4 OSS credits • Part of a SHSM

  10. College delivered Level 1 Apprenticeship in-school training involving a dedicated role for secondary school teachers through seat purchase (Approach 6A); not through seat purchase (Approach 6B)

  11. Phase XII Apprenticeship Pilot Dual Credits • Cambrian Secondary School/College Strategic Planning Committee • “Apprenticeship Plus” • Students attend classes daily at Cambrian College • Grade 11 and 12 • Earn four OSS credits, including at least 1 coop

  12. Phase XII Apprenticeship Pilot Dual Credits • “Apprenticeship Plus” • Registered under OYAP as apprentices • Earn Level 1 Cook • Receive a college transcript – Advanced Cook Apprentice and Chef Training Programs • Offers students an apprenticeship and college pathway

Trades and Technology Opportunities and Pathways • Connecting GTA Teachers • Pre-trades pathway • Senior level students • May be in the OYAP program, may have completed it • Unable to find work as apprentices • 1) Precision Machining • 2) Electrical Construction • Half of students’ time in Sheridan College’s shops • Earn dual credits

Automotive Pre-Apprentice via Georgiana Trades Training Inc. • Connecting GTA Teachers • Full semester program • Two days/week students doing independent study to earn OSS credits • Two days/week, students attend a secondary school for the delivery of the theory component of Level 1 for Automotive Service Technician • One day/week students go to Centennial College for practical component of Level 1 • Students work with a job coach

  15. OYAP Level 1 Certification: Program Development Support • Northeastern Ontario Regional Planning Team • 120 students in 2 boards complete Level 1 • Construction Craft Worker • Early Childhood Educator • Electrician: Construction and Maintenance • Welder

  16. Apprenticeship – Top Up Model • Grand River RPT • Secondary school students can apply for any of the apprenticeships offered at Mohawk (Brantford) campus • Student Success Facilitator is the dedicated teacher • Students also complete a cooperative education placement in their trade

  17. General Machinist Common CoreMotive Power Technician – AlgonquinPlumber/Carpenter/Electrician Program for OYAP Students • PASS RPT • Students earn Level 1 • Delivered at a college • Students earn • dual credit • 2 cooperative education credits (220 hours) • Hours towards apprenticeship

  18. Laddering – Apprenticeship Alignment Dual Credit • Grand Connections RPT • Students in 4 credit Home Build program receive instruction from Conestoga College in welding • RPT funds successful students’ challenge exams • General Carpentry • Precision Machining • Auto Service Technician
