  2. Geographic position of Slovenia • Territory: 20.256 km2 • Borders: Italy (202 km), Austria (324 km), Hungary (88 km), Croatia (546 km), 46 km of coastal line • Inhabitants (1998): 1.982.603Population density: 97.9 inhab./km2 • Rural population: 57.3 %

Slovenian Countryside • In Slovenia countryside occupies 93% of total area, there lives 60 % of all population • Large number of settlements, mainly very small (almost 6.000) • 80% of all settlements are in hilly, mountainous and karst areas, there are just 40 % of people living there • 86.467 European comparable agriculture holdings • Average size of farm with forests is 9,9 ha • Average size of agricultural land on farm 5,9 ha • 80% of Slovenian areas are LFA

  5. Political dispersed area • Prlekija is spread over 3 administration units (Ormož, Ljutomer, Gornja Radgona) • 2 statistical regions • 11 independent Municipalities • Withouth gravitation centre

Preparation process of RDP Prlekija • 1992 – 2003: Projects CRPOV (rural development and revitalizing of villages – small entities) (10) • 2003/2004: Phase of partial CRPOV projects testing for connecting possibility (SAPARD entrance ticket) • 2004/2005: RDP Prlekija introduction phase (local environment animation, preparing of the document) • 2005/2006: Supplementation of RDP and preparation for LAG (LEADER entrance ticket) • 2007 /2008: Preparation of new local development strategy, organising LAG as Consortium of 42 founders

  10. Local action group Prlekija LAG Prlekija was established in august 2006. The board of the Local action group unites 15 representatives: 5 representatives of public sector (municipalities, Farm&forestry chamber, Public development agency, Local tourist organization) 5 representatives of economic sector (traditional craft, wine producer, farm with additional activities, handy craft, entrepreneur) 5 representatives of civil sector (tourist associations and other associations)

Jurij, Veržej) - kmetijsko gozdarski zavodi (Murska Sobota, Ptuj) - območne obrtne zbornice (G. Radgona, Ljutomer, Ormož) - razvojne agencije (Javna razvojna agencija Ormož, Podjetniško razvojna agencija G. Radgona) - javni zavodi za kulturo in turizem, turistično informacijski centri (Zavod za kulturo in izobraževanje Ljutomer, Zavod za turizem G. Radgona, LTO Prlekija Ljutomer, TIC G.
