  1. Jingke Assassinates the King of Qin 荆轲刺秦王

  2. Jingke Assassinates the King of Qin • During the late stage of Warring States, Qin became much more powerful than others, and the king decided to conquer all the other countries and unite the whole China. Other countries had no strength to defend themselves, but the heir of Yan Country found a brave man, Jingke, to assassinate the king of Qin.

  3. Jingke Assassinates the King of Qin • The Yan heir pretends to be respectful and obedient to the Qin king and plans to send Jingke to tell the king that he would give certain areas to Qin, and Jingke would assassinate the king at that time. Being uncertain if the king would take this story, Jingke says it would be great if he could take with him Fanyuqi (樊于期)‘s head, who has been hated wanted by the king for a long time, the king would definitely see him. Heard this, Fanyuqi killed himself without hesitation and Jingke took his head and set off. • The Yan heir sends Jingke off at the side of Yi River, both knew Jingke would die no matter if he’d succeed or not. Jingke sings: “The wind is chilly and the water of Yi River is cold; once the brave man goes, he will never return”.

  4. Jingke Assassinates the King of Qin • When Jingke goes to see the king, he hides a knife inside the role of map. His assistant is very nervous and his face turns pale. The king is a little suspicious of the assistant, so only Jingke himself is allowed to see the king. Jingke presents the map to the king, and then suddenly, “the map ends and a knife appears” (which has become an idiom later), and the king runs away on seeing the knife. Jingke chases the king, and although there are many other officials beside, they are not allowed to take any weapon with them according to the Qin law, so they can’t stop Jingke. The king has a sword, but he’s too nervous to get it out. Finally a doctor throws his medicine bag to Jingke and soldiers from outside come to capture Jingke. Jingke knows he has failed, but he is not afraid. He rails and shouts the bad things the king has done before he gets killed. • http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/SkXXROe6Arg/
