Special Needs Section (cntd) "Making Inclusion a Reality” • The Special Needs Section provides comprehensive services and equipment to students with special needs in the university • The section ensures fair and appropriate access to programs, services, facilities, and activities for students with special needs.  SS-3-13

  4. Special Needs Section (cntd) • There is a resource room that is equipped with the latest modern technical equipment and which provides services to students with: • visual impairments, • physical impairments, • dyslexia, speech problems…. SS-3-13

Counseling Services Descriptions of service • Students can discuss any personal or social concern with the counsellor regardless of its relationship to their studies. • Counsellors try to: 1- identify problems/difficulties that students face, 2- understand their thoughts, feelings, 3- then teach them new and effective patterns to help them cope with their problems and feel more confident. SS-3-13

Counseling Services (cntd) Examplesof Situations that the SCC can help with: • A student worried about her academic performance • A student who needs to make a decision whether to get married while she is at QU or wait until she graduates. • A student who is procrastinating / delaying studying until exam day. SS-3-13

  8. Counseling Services (cntd) • A student who would like to overcome her excessive shyness to interact easily with her teacher and other students. • A student who lives unstable family life and would like to lessen the effect of that on her academic performance. SS-3-13

Scope of services Staff and students can receive health care, fill prescriptions, or seek medical counsel at W.Campus medical Center: 1- Emergency medical response at accident sites 2- Routine medical procedure for patients, including medical examinations, diagnoses and treatments. 3- Monitoring patients with chronic illness (diabetes, asthma, hypertension, etc.) SS-3-13

Scope of services (cntd) 4- Transfer of urgent or critical medical cases to HMC’s emergency sector, accompanied by a clinic nurse. 5- Following up with additional attention students with health conditions during the period of their exams • Staff: 2 doctors, 2 pharmacists, and 5 nurses. • Male Clinic will open in the second term. SS-3-13

Activities and Events The QU Library • organizes a number of ceremonies, lectures and training courses for all categories of the university community • receives a number of visiting guests • participates in numerous conferences, debates symposia, workshops, and training programs. • offers, at the beginning of each semester, work and training for university students in order to train and prepare them for the Qatari labor market in the field of library and information SS-3-13

Sports Hall: Facilities The hall, which is an integrated sport area, contains: • Playing area for teams sports (handball, volleyball, football) • Playing area for singular games (Squash, tennis table, badminton) • Study halls • Rooms for store and clothes change • Internet hall and reading for students’ rest • Gymnasium hall • Prayers area • Cafeteria SS-3-13

How to Participate in the Physical Fitness Hall The hall offers a training and training services for students, teaching staff, employees, workers in addition to the outer community membership Participation Annual Rates • Employees: 300 QR • Teaching Staff: 300 QR • Students: 150 QR • University Graduates : 250 QR • Outer Membership: 1000 QR One Time Entry: • Students: 10 QR • Outside University: 10 QR • Clubs, corporations and Foundations: 30 QR SS-3-13

Career Services Center The CSC offers complementary services and advisory support for all currently enrolled graduate and undergraduate QU students Basic Services: • Standard career guidance testing • Resume and cover letter assessment • On and off-campus interviewing with employers • Career open house days on campus SS-3-13
