  2. Dia- across/through • diagram-a simplified drawing showing the appearance, structure, or workings of something; a schematic representation • diameter-a straight line passing from side to side through the center of a body or figure, esp. a circle or sphere. • diaspora- Jews living outside Israel.

  3. Dia- across/through • dilate-make or become wider, larger, or more open • diagonal-joining two opposite corners of a square, rectangle, or other straight-sided shape

  4. Peri- around • perimeter-the continuous line forming the boundary of a closed geometric figure • periscope-an apparatus consisting of a tube attached to a set of mirrors or prisms, by which an observer (typically in a submerged submarine or behind a high obstacle) can see things that are otherwise out of sight.

  5. Peri- around • periosteum-a dense layer of vascular connective tissue enveloping the bones except at the surfaces of the joints • peripheral- of, relating to, or situated on the edge or periphery of something

  6. Sphere- around • spherical- shaped like a sphere. • sphere- a round solid figure, or its surface, with every point on its surface equidistant from its center. • hemisphere- a half of a sphere.

  7. Sphere- around • atmosphere- the envelope of gases surrounding the earth or another planet • biosphere- the regions of the surface, atmosphere, and hydrosphere of the earth (or analogous parts of other planets) occupied by living organisms.

  8. Volve- turn • involve- (of a situation or event) include (something) as a necessary part or result • revolve-move in a circle on a central axis • revolution-a forcible overthrow of a government or social order in favor of a new system

  9. Volve- turn • volcano-a mountain or hill, typically conical, having a crater or vent through which lava, rock fragments, hot vapor, and gas are or have been erupted from the earth's crust. • evolve-develop gradually, esp. from a simple to a more complex form

  10. Rot- turn • rotunda-a round building or room, esp. one with a dome. • rotate-move in a circle around an axis or center • rotation-the action of rotating around an axis or center • rotor-a rotary part of a machine or vehicle, in particular

  11. Cycl/Orb- roundness • cyclical-occurring in cycles; regularly repeated • cylinder-a solid geometric figure with straight parallel sides and a circular or oval section. • -

  12. Cycl/Orb • orbit-the curved path of a celestial object or spacecraft around a star, planet, or moon, esp. a periodic elliptical revolution. • cyclone-a system of winds rotating inward to an area of low atmospheric pressure, with a counterclockwise (northern hemisphere) or clockwise (southern hemisphere) circulation; a depression.
