PHASE 1 ACTIVITIES • ACTIVATION OF NEOC • INFORMATION GATHERING & ANALYSES • VOLCANIC WARNING AND ALERTS • DIFFERENT LEVEL OF MEETINGS AND BRIEFINGS • OPERATION PLANNING BY ALL RESPONSE AGENCIES • PRE-LOGISTIC PLANS • COMMUNICATION PLANNING • PRE-DEPLOYMENT PLAN • RESOURCE ASSESSMENT /CONDITION AND AVAILABLITY • IDENTIFICATION OF CARE CENTERS • PREPOSITIONING OF LOGISTICS • PREPOSITIONING OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES

VUI CURRENT SITUATION STATUS • Three stations installed at in the South, North and West of Ambae. • Three stations recorded continued volcanic tremors from three sites • All records are the same • No record of tectonic earthquakes on Ambae • Another station will be install at Nduindui by the French Scientists • NZ Scientists will spend more time in seismic • statement yesterday the records showed a decrease on the sesimic activity, and a decreased of gaz emission from 2,500 to 1,900 tons per day. • Minor activity of eruption at the mouth of the creater.

Current level of preparedness plan • National Level • NEOC activated on 24hrs • Members of NDCs alerted • Police on alert and on standby in Luganville • Police deployed to Ambae • Health Contingency plan in place • Geology providing updates on scientific information • COM being inform and prepared to make further decision on second level of operation. • All Ministries and Government Department on alert. • Government has allocated 50 million vatu for this operation. • Government consultation with Donor communities through Foreign Affairs Ministry/Dept. • Pre-position of Southern and Northern Star to Ambore and Lolowai. • RVS Tukoro tasked as FOB, currently at Lolowai. • Reviewing and updating of Vui Volcanic Support Plan.

  7. National Level • PWD prepare to provide extra generator to Penama Province. • Prepare for other logistical backup. • Orders sent to Penama Province to utilise their resources.

  8. NGO • Peace Corps volunteers preposition in NDMO, Geology and Penama Province as support staffs. • Peace Corps deployed one SatPh to Ambae. • Red cross prepared to dispatch 2,000 protective masks, 3,000 family packs. • Red cross negotiating for specialist to assist in health and sanitation assistance in all care centres.

  9. Private • Unity Airline on standby for any emergency deployment. • All domestic vessels being inform of situation and on standby to assist.

Donor Partners • TA in terms of scientists deployed to Ambae. • Monitoring and Reporting • Attend all coordination meeting daily. • Consultation with respective aid offices • Jaque Cartier on standby orders. • Other logistics on standby. • Awaiting further orders from Government through Ministry of Foreign Affairs
