Admissions Checklist: Step 1 Step 1: Submit your online application at https://inetapps.nus.edu.sg/rschappl/ Application Fee The following non-refundable application fee is payable for each programme you apply for: • Online Applications: SGD 20/- • Paper-based Applications: SGD 40/- Please note the online applications are STRONGLY preferred

Admissions Checklist: Step 2 Supporting Documents • The completed Declaration Form • The Cheque / Bank Draft & Application Fee Form • A copy of the completed Online Application Form Research Proposal (at least 2 pages long) • A copy of Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree transcript & certificate (with English translation, if applicable)* • A copy of TOEFL/IELTS and GRE/GMAT scoresheet (if any)* • Copy of Publication(s) (if any) • Other Document(s) (e.g. Documentary evidence of financial status for self-supporting applicant or RS applicant etc.)

Admissions Checklist: Step 2 Supporting Documents *Note: (a) For transcript, please request your university/institution to send it directly to NUS in a SEALED envelope with its flap bearing the security seal and the signature of the Registrar or representative. (b) For TOEFL/IELTS/GRE/GMAT, please request the testing organisation to send your scoresheet(s) directly to NUS for verification. 2 Referee Reports (to be sent in SEALED envelopes with its flap bearing the referee’s signature across it).

  6. Information about the PhD Program How long is a PhD program? The NUS PhD in Management is a full time program. On the average, it can take up to 4 to 5 years to complete. What is the overall program structure? The first two years are dedicated to preparatory classes, coursework, summer paper & qualifying examination. The last two years are dedicated exclusively to research and dissertation. [Click here for more details] Is there a minimum duration for finishing my PhD? You need at least 4 years to complete your PhD degree. Can I do my PhD on a part-time basis? No. PhD can only be pursued on a full time basis.

  7. Information about the PhD Program What is the maximum duration for finishing my PhD? The maximum duration allowed for finishing the PhD degree is 6 years. What are the possible areas of specialization? Six specializations are offered: Finance, Accounting, Decision Sciences, Business Policy, Management & Organization and Marketing. Can I be waived off from some courses if I already hold an MBA? Yes you can, but the waivers are considered on a case-by-case basis. Is the PhD curriculum available online?   8. Information about the PhD Program What are the criteria for the selection of candidates? Candidates are assessed on the basis of outstanding intellectual ability, motivation, faculty recommendations and potential for an international academic career. Are there any residency requirements? Students are expected to spend full 4 years at the NUS Campus

  9. Application Requirements What is the minimum qualification for applying to your PhD program? The minimum qualification for applying to the PhD program is a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline. How do I apply? Applications can be submitted either online or in hardcopy. The application form can be downloaded directly at our website. [Please click here for the application form and further details] What is the deadline for PhD application? The deadline for online applications is November 15. The deadline for paper-based applications is January 31, for the August intake each year. Can I submit IELTS scores in the place of TOEFL? IELTS is also acceptable. You can submit either TOEFL or IELTS.

  10. Application Requirements Is there an application fee for the PhD program? There is a non-refundable fee of S$20/- for online applications There is a non-refundable fee of S$40/- for paper-based applications [Please click here for payment modes and other details] Can I send my application if I have not yet taken my GMAT or TOEFL? Yes. You just need to indicate the test date in your application and provide us with the test scores after your exam. Can I be waived from both GMAT and GRE? No, you must submit at least one of these scores. What is the institution code for NUS Business School? Our institution code for GRE and GMAT is 7219. 

  11. Application Requirements What is the minimum number of recommendations required for the application? Can I submit more? You need to submit a minimum of 2 recommendations from academic referees. You can submit more if you wish to. I do not have a management background or prior work experience. Can I still apply? Yes you can. Alongside your application, please submit a detailed essay on your area of interest, knowledge about the area and your objective from this program to help us evaluate your application.   12. Admission Process ( contd.) Are there any interviews and/or admission tests? The concerned department will be conducting a telephonic interview to the shortlisted applicants February. When will I know the outcome of my application? For the August intake, we will notify you of the results of your application latest by May 31. Can I reapply if my file has been rejected? Yes, you can re-apply for the next intake. May I apply for two fields/departments? Yes, you can apply for multiple fields (departments). But you need to fill in separate application forms and pay application fee for each application.

  13. Financial Support What are the various scholarships offered for the PhD studies? The NUS Research Scholarships are awarded to outstanding candidates to pursue a full time research degree. [Click here for more details] The Lee Kong Chian Graduate Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students at any PhD program at the University. [Click here for more details] The PGF Scholarship is open to all incoming PhD candidates as well as current NUS Research Scholars. [Click here for more details]

  14. Financial Support Am I still entitled for a scholarship if I have secured external financial support as well? Yes. Please indicate in the application form the details of the other financial support that you have already secured. Is there any other financial assistance available for PhD studies? Yes. Apart from the various scholarships described above, there are other channels of financial support as well. [Click here for more details.] Do PhD students get any monthly stipend? Yes, PhD students are entitled to a monthly stipend under the various scholarship schemes described above. [Click here for more details]
