  3. Table of Contents • IMPORTANT!! (helps the judges see all of that awesome work) • MAKE SURE… • Pages are numbered • Page numbers in the Table of Contents correspond with the CORRECT pages • Go back and double check!

Project Accomplishments Size and Scope -Did you save money by baking the cookies instead of buying them at the bakery? -What did you do or make in your project (i.e. purchase a goat, made a hat, etc.) -How many people did you impact? Did you earn money from a fair, bake sale, show, etc.? -What did you spend money on in your project? How much time and effort did you put into your project?

Project Accomplishments Project Activities • Have you given talks or demonstrations in your project area? • Sharing at a meeting, speaking on a County level, talking to afterschool groups, state wide competition • Have you done any judging? • Critique foods or compare products at club meetings • County or state competitions • Have you been on any tours? • Visit a location to learn more about the project topic • Participate in workshops, whether through 4-H or another organization, about the project topic

  16. Project Accomplishments Summary • Remember: One complete section for each project • Do not combine projects • Include information from every year you have been enrolled in project • Choose a project you are currently taking • No more than 3 pages per project!!

  18. Leadership Experiences • All leadership experiences throughout your 4-H career • 3 pages MAX! • List by year • Include whether Local, County, State • Action words- conducted, organized, directed • 3 types • Elected/Appointed • Promotional • Volunteer

  19. Leadership Experiences Elected and Appointed • Positions you were elected for/voted into • Positions you were appointed to by: your leader, club president, 4-H agent, etc • Examples • Club secretary, community service chair, AG day coordinator, beverage chair, activity leader

Leadership Experiences Promotional • The main goal is to promote the 4-H program • Club, County, State, Nationally • Examples • Community activity days, demonstrations to the community, meeting with state or local representatives, newspaper interviews, poster displays, host and hostess at the state fair, etc.

  21. Leadership Experiences Volunteer • Leadership roles that you have volunteered to do • Include the # of people you have worked with/impacted • Examples • Day camp counselor, organized a community service activity, judges assistant, MC at fashion revue, state fair set up, etc.

  22. Leadership Experiences Experiences Outside of 4-H • Leadership roles that you have had with another organization • May include elected/appointed, promotional, and volunteer experiences • Examples • FFA, church, school, sports teams, student council, board member, planning committee, etc.

Leadership Experiences Summary • Remember: Only one leadership section total • Do not complete a separate leadership section for each project area • Include information from every year you have been enrolled in 4-H, and from all project areas-even those that aren’t included • 4-H leadership experiences should be the main focus • No more than 3 pages!!

Citizenship & Community Service • All citizenship/community service experiences throughout your 4-H career • 3 pages MAX! • List by year • Not the same as leadership • Include year, activity, size/scope, your involvement • 3 types • Performed Yourself= Y • Gave Primary Leadership= G • Member of Group= M

Your 4-H Story • Share your most memorable 4-H experience • Do you have a funny story about a livestock project? • Did you learn an interesting lesson from a citizenship project? • Did you discover something about yourself from your involvement in 4-H? • Was there a certain event in 4-H that made an impact on you? • Give your story a single theme • Could be positive or negative; share what you learned • Don’t repeat what you already told us in your book… Tell us something new! • Stories should be between 1-2 pages long; not to exceed 2 pages.   28. Photographs & Project Samples 5 pages MAX! Photography project earns you 5 more pages! Events and activities from the previous sections Awards or commendations can be included; copies are ok! Action Pictures and clear captions Include pictures from each year you have been involved

Important Dates and Reminders • May 1, 2013- Completed books due to the NCC 4-H Office • We will deliver your book to the state office • Be sure to include all necessary signatures • Spring/Summer- Interviews • Summer- Final revisions completed • Assist the Delaware 4-H Foundation with at least five hours of fundraising support or pay a $50.00 registration fee • Participate in an orientation session with at least one parent or guardian • November 29-December 3, 2013- National 4-H Congress, Atlanta, Georgia
